Some might contend that as many people as possible should be allowed to go to the polls, therefore, the legal age for voting need to be lowered from 20 to 18 while others assert that adolescent are not mature enough for voters. I strongly argue that the young should not be granted suffrage because of their political immaturity and the likelihood that they would not vote.18 year old people know little about the world around them, having started their own lives. Their ignorance could lead democracy to mobocracy. They are much less likely to vote. Second, by lowering the legal voting age, we must think about other laws. Among them, lowering the coming of age from 20 to 18 is one of the most important things which should be debated. When the law will be reviewed, other laws that grown-ups are granted: Horse Racing Act, a contract of the loan, alcohol drinking, cigarette smoking, and so on. Third, at the moment, turnout of voters that elderly person are increasing with the aging. I think it is better to be limited the suffrage by 65 than to lower the voting age. For instance, young Americans vote at half the rate compared to their elders. In this essay, it has been argued that lowering the voting age has no positive effect on the society. Thus, it should be remain 20.
